Buenos Aires, February 23 (NA) – Parents accused of their daughter's death at the Gutiérrez Hospital in La Plata have been released while the judicial investigation continues. They are Miguel Ángel Allende and Jimena Vieras, who regained their freedom after the request of prosecutor Martín Almirón, head of the UFI No. 8 of the Judicial Department of the Buenos Aires capital, in accordance with Article 161 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The defendants' defender, Gonzalo Escaray, spoke with the Noticias Argentina Agency and emphasized that he requested “a series of testimonial and informative evidence” about the different care the patient received at the Gutiérrez Hospital and in two vaccination rooms before she died. “We are also waiting for information on the care provided in the emergency room of that health center, where she was diagnosed with bronchiolitis,” explained the lawyer. Escaray added that the grandmother and the mother's best friend would testify to describe the relationship between the parents and the victim, while also offering key data about her clinical history: “She was a girl who had some medical issues before her death”. Meanwhile, a second autopsy performed by the Forensic Advisory and the extension of the statements of the nurses who treated the girl have been incorporated into the file.
